This plan for California will serve as a groundbreaking, national model for health literacy; currently, no statewide efforts of such complexity are being undertaken. - California Primary Care Association (CPCA)
The California Primary Care Association (CPCA) recently completed work on an update to the document: The Future of Community Clinics and Health Centers in California's Safety Net: A Blueprint for Action. The report revisits our 1999 Blueprint and considers best ways to support the critical role community clinics and health centers (CCHCs) play in the context of the current climate in which they are operating and the challenges they face. The 2007 Blueprint update proposes five priority strategies for clinics and those working to assure their continued survival.
The report can be downloaded at http://www.cpca.org/about/. Schacht & Associates has also set up a web page for you to share your thoughts and ideas related to the Blueprint. We invite you to visit http://schachtandassociates.com/wordpress/ to engage in dialogue and exchange about the Blueprint and the topics it addresses. Please note that this page is for discussion only; we do not plan to act on the suggestions you post here, but rather to assist in creating community and exchange about these important issues.
CPCA will continue its advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening and preserving CCHCs in today's fragile health care delivery environment while promoting systems of care that are both accessible and responsive to the health care needs of all Californians. - Center for Health Design
The Center for Health Design is a leading research and advocacy organization of forward-thinking healthcare and design professionals who are leading the quest to improve the quality of healthcare through building architecture and design.

- Institute of Medicine Aims
“The U.S. health care delivery system does not provide consistent, high-quality medical care to all people. Americans should be able to count on receiving care that meets their needs and is based on the best scientific knowledge--yet there is strong evidence that this frequently is not the case. Health care harms patients too frequently and routinely fails to deliver its potential benefits. Indeed, between the health care that we now have and the health care that we could have lies not just a gap, but a chasm.”
In its 2001 report on patient safety, Crossing the Quality Chasm: a New Health System for the 21st Century, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in Washington, DC outlined six Aims for improving health care. These aims are "built around the core need for health care to be:- Safe: avoiding injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them.
- Effective: providing services based on scientific knowledge to all who could benefit, and refraining from providing services to those not likely to benefit.
- Patient-centered: providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values, and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
- Timely: reducing waits and sometimes harmful delays for both those who receive and those who give care.
- Efficient: avoiding waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy.
- Equitable: providing care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and socioeconomic status.”

There is a link at the top of the page where you can send feedback. - Studer Group
Studer Group partners with healthcare organizations to create great places for patients to receive care by first creating a great place for employees to work and physicians to practice medicine.
Most organizations we work with engage in coaching partnerships, where we provide on-site resources to actually help implement our evidence-based approach. Studer Group coaches have firsthand experience implementing this approach in provider organizations. While our team includes a wide variety of leadership experience and medical directors, we have many coaches with nursing leadership backgrounds since so much of our work impacts the sharp-end of care delivery.
To assist our partners we have created several supplemental resources that are also available to non-partners, which include:- Leadership development resources (educational institutes and national speakers)
- Evidence-based tools
- Resources for individuals (special online tools, videos and books)
- Software accelerators
- Research
