Program Description
“There is a longing among all people and creatures to have a sense of purpose and worth. To satisfy that common longing in all of us we must respect each other.”
Communication for Kids is based on our years of experience teaching communication and counseling skills to adults in the healthcare environment. We learned that it is difficult for adults to change their communication patterns. Healthy and direct communications are important to an individual’s happiness and success in life. Professional progress is directly linked to a person’s ability to work well with others.
We have been working with children between the ages of eight and 14 to develop positive communication skills and relationships. We believe that the earlier a child learns positive, healthy communication patterns, the easier life will be for them. The kids we are working with are learning the same skills we teach adults, and are doing very well. We also have lots of fun.
We can provide Communication for Kids training at your home, activity, club, school, church, or as a day camp at Black Dog Farm.

Everyone loses their baby teeth. Whitepigeon Enterprises was formed to manufacture and distribute the funny Your Tooth Fairy Pillow™ to add whimsy and enchantment to the experience of losing baby teeth.

But! The pillow can also be used as a teaching aid in schools, to celebrate a student the day a baby tooth is missing. Health care workers can easily use the pillows as puppets to teach good brushing habits, or to make an appointment go easier. The pillow is a wonderful momento for anyone in the dental profession, with DDS, DMD, RDH, CDT, CDA, and RDA embroidered on the pocket.
Dr. Jessica A. Rickert has insisted that Your Tooth Fairy Pillow be 100% made in the USA. - Virtues Connection Portland
Awakening the virtues within
A class for curious and compassionate parents!- How do I raise my child to have a good character?
- How do I keep from spoiling my child?
- What do I do if my child is a bully?
- Is it my fault?
The 5 Strategies of The Virtues Project help us live more authentic, purposeful lives to raise children of compassion and idealism, and create a culture of character in our homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
- Speak the Language of Virtues - Language has the power to discourage or inspire. Using virtues language to acknowledge, guide, correct or thank awakens the virtues of our character.
- Recognize Teachable Moments - Recognizing the virtues needed in our daily challenges helps us become lifelong learners open to the lessons of character.
- Set Clear Boundaries - Setting boundaries based on respect and restorative justice creates a climate of peace, cooperation and safety in our homes, schools and communities.
- Honor the Spirit - Bringing virtue to life in our daily interactions, activities, celebrations and the arts, we sustain our vision and purpose while honoring the dignity of every person.
- Offer Companioning - Being deeply present, listening with compassionate curiosity guides others to find clarity and to create their own solutions. It supports healing and growth.
This class offers valuable guidance with five practical strategies and tools to inspire parents and caregivers to live more authentic lives, raise children of compassion and create a culture of character in our homes, schools and communities.
